Show-Off Scarf

This is a simple pattern designed to show off pretty handspun yarn without just being plain ribbing or stockinette. It also lies flat, which I really like, and is knitted just loosely enough to drape nicely. It's not actually done at the moment, but it's...done enough to post pictures. I'll update this post when it's actually finished, though.

Yarn: Mystery handspun wool from my stash. I've long lost the tag and the store I bought it at went out of business without telling me. A real shame, too, because I absolutely love it. In any case, any worsted weight will work, handspun or otherwise. A little variation in thickness is ok.

Needles: Size 9

CO 20 stitches

1: k1, p1, repeat across
2: k2, p2, repeat across

repeat!

Easy, eh? (In fact I'm a little hesitant about the name because it hardly "shows off" any advanced technique or ability at all...just the yarn. But oh well.)

Hey, usually a simple pattern is best for handspun. Anyway, great looking scarf!

It is simple, but it looks beautiful with the right yarn, I love it!

It looks beautiful. I can't believe it's really that simple - it looks much more complicated. I bought some new yarn today and think I just found the perfect pattern for it. Thanks!

I would really like to work this pattern into a hat. Do you suppose (since I'm not turning my work) I would just switch the second row to p2 k2?

I think you'd get essentially the same effect even if you didn't, but technically speaking, yeah, you'd flip it :-)

Thank you so much! I'm working it on 10.5 size dpns, and I did 80 sts, which seems to be the right size. I'll send you a link to a picture when I'm done with it!

I found you through one of the free knitting sites...

I knit up my 3rd ever scarf using this pattern and I absolutely love it. I made it huge with thick yarn on size 35 needles. It came out great! Thanks!!
