So.

I have decided to allow my sad little other business, Dull Roar, to absorb and devour Presents Knits. This is most likely a terrible decision, since you should really never change your business name once you have even the slightest degree of name recognition going. But here's the thing:

I hate this name.

I picked it on a whim based on a short-lived high school nickname- don't get me wrong, I still have warm and amused feelings towards the name, but nobody uses it anymore and it was rather silly to begin with. It's hard to say (say it out loud with me: "Presents knits." Lisp much?) People never know if it's presents (gifts), presents ("and now presenting...") or presence (ooh, omnipotent-y.) And since it has "knits" in the name, it's terribly restrictive. I tried to solve this last problem a while ago by starting Dull Roar, so I could sell non-knitting-related stuff on etsy if I wanted to. Since then Dull Roar's been pretty quiet, selling an odd hat now and again, but not much going on over there. But I like the name. It's snappy. It's vague. It's easy to remember. Plus, I have to file a new DBA when I move back to Michigan anyhow, and it's never going to get easier to change the name, only harder.

This all isn't quite ready just yet, but I wanted to give you a head's up- unfortunately you'll probably have to update your bookmarks and rss readers and whatnot, which I know is kind of a pain :-( It turns out that I COULD just change this blog's name/address, but A. I didn't figure that out until I'd already exported everything and started sprucing up the new place, and B. I want to leave this blog here so people who know the old name can find me with minimum hassle. The new address will be www.dull-roar.com (I know! A real domain!!) but it might not work for a few days.

I also changed the wedding blog's name to "wedding making" because the whole "presents" thing sounded uncomfortably grabby, even though it was a pun. Since there are all of like, 7 people following that one, I figure they'll be able to find it ;-)
